Seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Dale Earnhardt will not attend this
weekend's T. Wayne Robertson NASCAR Winston Cup Preview due to his
recovery from recent spinal surgery.
Earnhardt underwent surgery Dec. 18, 1999 to repair a ruptured disc in
his spinal column. The anterior cervical discectomy was successful, and
Earnhardt returned to some light activity last week. However, the
seven-time Winston Cup champion has cleared his schedule until he travels
to Daytona Beach, Fla., for Speedweeks.
"As much as I would like to be there, I really need to take it
easy and get ready for the 2000 Winston Cup season," Earnhardt said.
"Getting back to 100 percent has to be my main focus right now.

The T. Wayne Robertson NASCAR Winston Cup Preview is set for Saturday,
Jan. 15, 2000. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the event ends at 6 p.m.
