It's going to be graduation week here in Winston-Salem.

Today the Tucker family attended the Graduation and Diploma ceremony for the Business School at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where our friend Gail Martin received her Master's in Business Administration.

On Thursday we will attend the Mount Tabor High School graduation where our friend Scott Rainey will receive his parchment.

On Friday, it's graduation day for Katie Tucker.  Katie will be graduating from Vienna Elementary School.

She'll be dipping her toes into middle school next year and has chosen to attend Wylie Middle School here in Winston-Salem.  The school system here is a combination county/city system and the county and city are divided into zones.  We live in Elementary Scholl zone 5 and have the choice of three middle schools and five elementary schools within our zone.  As long as we choose a school within  our zone the system will provide transportation.  Our home elementary was Speas but we chose Vienna because of it's communication theme.   This school is wired -- a Mac (ugh) in every classroom and a computer lab with some 25 machines, all of course networked. The school also has its own internal television station where the kids serve as newscasters and such.

The middle schools also have themes and Katie evaluated the choices and chose Wylie for it's traditional school theme.  Our home school was Paisley, which is a math and science magnet (supported by Wake Forest University), but math and science was not attractive to this little girl.
